Porscheplatz at 12 Hours of Sebring

If the 50th Rolex 24 at Daytona was any indication, the 60th Anniversary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida will also set some historical records. Porsche will be well represented both on the track - with the newest version of the GT3 RSR - and with facilities for Porsche owners, PCA members and race fans as well. The Sebring Porscheplatz will be located in its historic spot near the entrance to the track along turn 17.

Special Porscheplatz tickets are required to gain access to the reserved parking areas and space is limited – please order tickets in advance: online at sebringraceway.com or call 800-226-7223. Only Porsche vehicles will be permitted in the main parking area; non-Porsches will be directed to the reserved overflow area across from the Porscheplatz. Please plan to arrive early on Saturday.

All PCA members are welcome to visit the Sebring Porscheplatz. In addition to the closed-circuit television feed and cold beverages, activities include presentations from Flying Lizards Motorsports, former race winner Hans Herrmann, Mobil 1, Porsche Cars North America (on the new 991), and Michelin. Several significant door prizes will be offered; the Sebring Porscheplatz is made possible by Porsche AG, PCNA, Florida’s Porsche Dealers, and is staffed by PCA members from across the country. Should you wish to volunteer, a few select spots are still available. Contact David O’Neal, PCA’s Zone 12 Representative at PCAzone12rep@gmail.comor call 407-808-6461.

Porsche is once again offering its special Porsche Customer Hospitality Center that provides catered food (three meals per day), lounge areas, video feed from the race, Team/Sponsor presentations, driving simulators for Xbox, and a gift bag. Admission to this facility must be purchased separately from Porsche online at: porscheracingusa.com. Porsche Hospitality packages can be purchased without track admission, should you already have race tickets.

About Us - Volunteers

We Welcome You - And We Need You!  As only one of many volunteers who donate their time and talents to keep this club active, I welcome all of you who have recently joined Gold Coast. Some of you have been members of PCA in other regions. Some of you have been members of other car clubs. So you all know about the types of activities we offer.  For those of you brand new to a car club, and especially the Porsche Club of America, you are in for some awesome opportunities. This region is one of the largest in PCA. We have around 1200 members. There are some who join only for the award winning and collectible PORSCHE PANORAMA - well worth the membership fee. But for those of you looking to get to know the people as well as the cars, we encourage you to jump right in and get involved.

This club offers a number of different types of social and driving events. Everything we do is organized and managed by our own members on a volunteer basis. We have members who have devoted countless hours for as many as 40 years. Seriously¦There are some  older & wiser members who are still very vital assets to this organization.

But as you can imagine, some of us (them) are getting pretty tired. We always need new blood as we refer to newer volunteers.  New Blood brings fresh ideas. And though we have some long time traditions, we are always open to new ideas and new energy.  Our board meetings are open to all members. We serve dinner and socialize before the meeting so this would be a great place to get an inside view of what’s going on and coming up for the club. We meet the first Thursday of the month at a member’s home. Please call one of us if you’d like to attend an upcoming meeting. My hope is that after attending, you will want to become more involved. But at the very least, you’ll get a good meal!

The PCA motto is It’s not just about the cars, it’s about the people. And I assure you it’s true. I have so many great memories of my years in PCA. And even better, I have made a lot of very good friends through local, multi-regional and national events.

So don’t be shy. Get involved. If you have any questions about upcoming events, call one of us. The officers, board members and committee chairs are listed in the KASSETTE. Even if you just have ideas, please contact us. Give us your thoughts. But even better, give us your time!
